Most recently, I heard a song by the group Spleen "Temple". She attracted me very much, something was special in her. And now I'm not talking about the musical arrangement, but rather about the meaning of the song. A few words about music: here it does not play a major role, which is why the author throughout the song performs the same melody for each stanza, the text, in turn, takes first place.
What is the song about?
The whole song is a letter from the lyrical hero to his beloved. He travels and waits for him to return home. Going to different countries and cities, the hero describes them in his letter. However, this is far from a pleasure trip. The whole journey is his life, which he rethinks. It’s even more likely not his own life, but the life of millions of people, people of the whole world.
First verse
What does he write? Based on the descriptions, we understand that in the first stanza we are talking about cloudy and rainy London. By this, the author emphasizes that life passes without light, it is gray and dull. And in the water, which the city is filled to the brim with, this joyless world is reflected.
The lyrical hero understands how humanity spends its days uselessly, how it litter its planet: “here there are puddles - one third of the water and two - gasoline”. It happens that even in the age of technology it is impossible to reach people, in the end you will remain lonely: “The SIM card doesn’t always touch here.
Second verse
Then the hero goes to the warm lands, which so remind him of his beloved. According to the descriptions (Olympus) we understand that we are talking about Greece.
All these difficulties that a person creates for himself, and unite in a certain monastery in which he is forever imprisoned. This monastery is without windows and without doors, which indicates the hopelessness of the situation. In this case, God cannot open the window if the door is locked, as the proverb says. He cannot save a man, because his heart languishes in this prison. And, when suddenly the time comes to die, the hero realizes that he has lived his life in vain.
The final
When old age is approaching, the hero intends to leave behind at least something that would remind him of his bitter life experience, which would survive and remain for centuries: “I am writing on the Novgorod birch bark”. He is afraid not to be in time, to be late, because his life will soon end, therefore he quickly scribbles on scraps and scraps. The hero hopes that this letter can reach future generations: “Hello to you! You - and the baby! ".
Meaning
This song speaks of the mortality of life, of human misunderstanding of how stupidly many spend their every day. Everything that is built by man, each “temple” collapses in an instant by himself. Nothing lasts forever: relationships between people, values, priorities ... They were developed over the centuries and fell apart at a time.
“Temple” is included in the album entitled “Key to the cipher”. It contains the answer to exciting questions, it contains the whole essence of being: “Remember, humanity, before it’s too late. Understand that it’s truly expensive, let it be after you what to leave, valuable for future generations! ”
In the end, I would like to say: how many songs in the modern world that start with their rhythm, beat, etc. They are applicable to listen to in clubs, discos, - in those places where you need to rock the crowd. Who will look into the meaning? However, there are so few songs right now that attract with an idea, their own idea. One of these songs is The Temple.
